Moshe climbs the mountain. He is told that no man who beholds G-d can see Him and live. By G-d's hand, Moshe is hidden and protected in a cleft in the rock . . .

Might this be the Jewish version of Plato's cave story? But rather than describing life as illusion, where only a glimmer of the world is experienced, and awakening from it, life is described as a process of revelation, and relationship with All-That-Is, and turning inward to experience Divine presence.
